This is not truly a lake, but a widening and deepening of the Shindian River. Bitan is very popular with local citizens, though because of the distance not many foreigners made it down to this area in the past. The area offers boat rentals and other recreational amenities, and is lined on the east shore with a long row of simple, unaffected tea “tent”, where tea sets and tea are available.
If you fancy a cup, however, head to the teahouses sitting ont he bluff on the river’s westside, right beside the 200-foot-high suspension bridge. The view from here is great.
