Lin An-Tai House

It is Taipei’s most completely preserved old mansion.

A traditional Chinese walled-in courtyard style, is a 30-room Ching dynasty-era family home. It offers a rare glimpse at life in China’s past. The house build according to the principles of feng shui or folk geomancy. Its design is carefully planned and spacious, with rooms for master and servants clearly differentiated. The materials and handiwork are exquisite. A fine model for the study of traditional Chinese architecture.

The house was carefully dismantled in the late 1970s, and moved to its current site.
